THANK YOU FOR LAST WEEK’S COLLECTION: €1365
SINCERE THANKS to the newly married Mrs. Considine and Mrs. Howe for reviving the lovely custom of gifting your wedding-flowers to the church. Speaking of traditions, don’t forget your May Altar in your home.
CONGRATULATIONS to the children from Doolin National School who received the Lord Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion last Friday. As the Third Commandment and the teaching of the Church remind us, Catholics are obliged to attend Holy Mass weekly, and parents promise before God to take on this responsibility at the Baptism of their children. This faith-commitment is necessary because, like any loving mother, the Church knows that, left to our own devices, we don’t always manage very well. We fall prey to the proud and sinful delusion that we are in control of our own destiny, and do not need God’s help or anyone else’s. But we need nourishment and strength to live a health life, and to lead a Godly life, a Christ-centred life, we need the special supernatural strength which we call amazing grace, which can only be found in the Sacraments. It is disrespectful and even hurtful to God to relegate Him to the margins of our lives and treat Him like Shannon doc. Would we like to be treated like that?
FR. ROBERT WILL BE AWAY NEXT WEEK from Sunday 11th to Thursday 15th May. Fr. Iggy McCormack will cover Mass in Lisdoonvarna on Sunday morning the 11th. There will be no daily Masses Monday to Thursday, but Adoration on Wednesday evening will continue as usual from 6 to 7pm.
In case of emergency contact Fr. Richard in Ballyvaughan on 086 0235313. Thank you, Fr. Richard
POPE FRANCIS’ LAST EASTER HOMILY, EASTER SUNDAY 2025: on seeking the risen Jesus in our daily lives. Reflecting on Mary from Magdala, Peter and John running to the empty tomb, Pope Francis said: “we must look for Him in life, look for him in the faces of our brothers and sisters, look for him in everyday business, look for him everywhere except in the tomb.” Despite the state of the world around us which could tempt us to despair, in this jubilee year of hope we must embrace the joy of the resurrection, letting it transform our lives and share this hope with others.
It was sad that the planned day of Blessed Carlo Acutis’ canonisation was replaced by Pope Francis’ funeral, but none of us knows what’s around the corner and we pray for God’s grace to cope with whatever comes. Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Christ has died, Christ has risen, and Christ will come again. His loving care for us spans past, present and future, so we are never alone and need never be afraid. Jesus we trust in You! Our Lady Queen of Peace, protect us, our loved-ones, and intercede for peace in our world.
NEXT CHILDREN’S ROSARY: Sunday evening, May 4th, 6pm, Lisdoonvarna Church.
