DAY FOR LIFE: next Sunday, June 15th, Trinity Sunday, we celebrate the day for life. What has this to do with the blessed Trinity? Well, Jesus is the first missionary, sent to us by the Father in the power of the Spirit. Those who have additional needs, and those who are seriously, even terminally ill, are also missionaries to us, reminding us of the unique value and purpose of each human life. They remind us that, despite what the world will tell us, there can be meaning and learning in suffering, offering our pain in union with that of Jesus on the Cross. Our Faith and Light group are joyful witnesses to this central truth of our faith! Jesus’ story of passion, death, and resurrection is the greatest evidence of this. It’s a story not of life after death, but of life out of death. We thank the Lord for our amazing heath care professionals, whose mission of treasuring and respecting each human being continues even when there is no longer any chance of physical healing. We applaud the many unsung heroes who care for the sick at home. We humbly acknowledge that only God the creator has the authority to begin life and to conclude it, and honour the sacredness of life from the womb to the tomb. The national pilgrimage for life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 21 in Knock shrine. For beautiful prayers and reflections on this visit wwwcouncilforlife.ie
