A BAPTISMAL PRAYER: the Paschal candle is lit a tour Baptism, and it’s lit at our funeral too, as a reminder that Jesus the light of the world is risen, and He will take us with Him, because our Baptism makes us one with Him So today, Easter Sunday, is the most special day for a baptism! Our baptism is the doorway into the eternal life of Jesus, which we now share. Easter is the promise that it doesn’t all end here. Here’s a lovely prayer that a grandfather wrote for his little granddaughter at her Baptism: Lord of all goodness and gentleness, we thank you for your gift of this special little child, whom you have called into this world. Bless and guide her with your light. Fill her life with joy and love, to make her future bright. May she always be present to the love and protection of her parents, the guidance of her godparents, the wisdom of her grandparents, and the love of all her family. May she come to know the love, joy, and fun of brothers and sisters. Keep them forever close to You and each other. Help her heart be tender to Your eternal love and grace, and help her grown in faith to know your welcoming embrace. Amen.
